Keep or Toss

Picture this: you walk to your refrigerator, open the door, and grab a carton for eggs. Now your mind immediately rushes to "are these even good now?"

Well, Element is here to help sort out just how long your favorite snacks will last in the refrigerator and freezer (according to the CDC):

Chicken

No one wants to eat bad chicken, so be sure to toss your chicken after a day or two! If you're going to keep it in the freezer, it will remain fresh up to nine months.

Cooked Ham

No matter if your ham is sliced, halved, or spiraled cut, you only want to keep it for three to four days in your Element refrigerator. If you need to keep it for longer, store it in your chest freezer for up to two months.

Eggs

Unless you're baking a cake or have a house full of teenage boys, you might not get through a carton of eggs quickly. That's okay because raw eggs in the shell can last for up to five weeks in your refrigerator. You shouldn't freeze your eggs in their shells; instead, beat your egg yolks and whites together than freeze for up to 12 months.

Ground Beef

Your ground beef is going to spoil pretty quickly, so be sure not to hang on to it for more than a couple of days. It will last up to four months in your Element freezer if you buy in bulk and need to store it.

Hot Dogs

Our favorite fall treat! We like to cook them over a campfire, but if you open the package, you will want to throw them away within a week of opening and don't keep them more than two weeks if they're unopened. Keeping those dogs in the freezer? They'll stay fresh for up to two months.

Leftovers

Toss your leftovers within three to four days. If you can manage to walk by the 'fridge for three to four days with leftovers in it, you're the real winner anyways.

Pizza

Who doesn't love a slice of leftover pizza? No one here is judging you if that's your preferred breakfast food! If your pizza is lucky enough to last more than 24 hours after first being made, you will want to toss it by day three or four. Put it in the freezer, and it will last for up to 2 months.
